Who We Are
California Earthquake Authority (CEA) is one of the world's largest providers of residential earthquake insurance. We encourage California homeowners and renters to reduce their risk of earthquake damage and loss through education, mitigation, and insurance policies that help repair and rebuild damaged homes, and replace valuables and personal belongings.
- Not for profit
- Privately funded
- Publicly managed
- Not tied to the state budget
What's more, CEA is financially strong, with total claim-paying ability exceeding $12 billion. CEA policies are sold and serviced by our participating insurance companies (PIs). To learn more about the earthquake policies we offer and how to buy, contact your residential insurance agent or one of our PIs.
The CEA is offering the CEA BB retrofit program in select ZIP Codes in high seismic risk areas to select policyholders because:
CEA is committed to making California communities safer, more resilient and able to recover following a damaging earthquake;
It makes sound financial sense for CEA and for CEA Policyholders; and
It provides CEA Policyholders with an opportunity to receive up to a 25 percent discount (after July 1, 2019) on their CEA earthquake insurance policy premium.
